2019 saw us back in Himachal Pradesh for the second time. This expedition had various difficulties, much different to 2018. The main one being landslides! We decided to try heading out a little later in the year to determine if this affected herp movement, would we find more or less of the same species? different species? However, later in the year meant heavier monsoons and ultimately, huge landslides. There was even one point were a tarmac road had completely falling into the river below! The hard hard work did pay off, we recorded new species for the state of Himachal Pradesh and India, including a 7th venomous species for the state! We’ll be releasing a species list as soon as a couple of our publications are released along with a full field report.
We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved in this trip including the team and all volunteers for supporting our mission of tackling snakebite in the Himalayas!
